Config Push automatically groups identical device outputs into output groups. This makes it faster and easier to review large Push / Pull results — instead of inspecting each device output one by one, you can view all devices that returned the same output grouped together. Basically, output grouping allows you to only inspect unique device outputs, which is much faster than inspecting each device individually.

In real world use-cases however, often there are minor variations in device outputs. These minor variations between outputs are treated by Unimus as a different result, creating a separate output group for each unique output. Some Push outputs may contain dynamic data – such as timestamps, session counters, or debug statistics - that vary with each push and on each device, leading to unnecessary output groups.

To prevent this, Unimus applies Backup Filters to Config Push outputs. Backup Filters are applied in the following order:

  1. Deleted Data Filters – remove any data matching the filter criteria.

  2. Built-in Backup Filters – applied automatically to all devices.

  3. Ignored Data Filters – replace matching data with the placeholder ‹–filtered–›.

If filtering is enabled for a Mass Config Push preset (enabled by default), you can identify devices with custom Backup Filters in the preset’s Targets view, indicated by a filter icon at the end of each device entry.

Note: The filter icon indicates custom Backup Filters. Built-in Backup Filters are applied by default to all devices, regardless of whether the icon is shown.

You can disable these filters by deselecting Apply backup filters to output in the preset’s Advanced settings window.
